OUR TEAM

Founding Pastor and Georgia native, Bryan James, is a graduate of Pentecostal Theological Seminary where he earned a Master’s Degree in Church Leadership with an emphasis on Missions. He and his wife Elaine moved to California in 2005 to launch Monterey Church. In 2012, Pastor Bryan led Monterey Church through a season of reformation into a more missional model, which included overseeing a new church plant in Northern Virginia (where he currently serves as Senior Pastor). Pastor Bryan and Elaine have four children: Rachel, Sarah, Julia and Samuel. Bryan enjoys traveling for missions, long walks, reading and spending time with his family . 

Thanh has called Northern Virginia home since age four, when she arrived in the U.S. with her family as refugees of the Vietnam War.  She graduated with honors from George Mason University where she earned a BS in Business Marketing; her professional background includes more than 15 years of experience in business development and federal proposal consulting. Thanh first came to to Monterey Church in 2015 after feeling a tug on her heart to see what it was all about. Here, she found an authentic church filled with the Word of God and the Spirit of God. Since then, Thanh has served as a worship leader and women’s discipleship group leader and joined the staff pastoral leadership team in 2021. She is passionate about disciple-making and walking alongside women who desire to grow in a deeper relationship with the Lord. Thanh earned a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies from Liberty University, and is working towards a certificate in Biblical Counseling. She resides in Warrenton with her husband Randy (who also serves as an Elder) and their two sons, Grant and Max.

Tracia grew up in Manassas and has lived there almost her entire life.  In 2014, she was looking for a new church when she heard about a church about to start meeting at a golf course and felt like she should give it a try.  She knew that first Sunday she had found her new home and has been a part of Monterey Church ever since.  Over the years, she has been involved with GoKids at various times, as well as having the opportunity to go on mission trips with the church, including Bolivia, Burkina Faso and Hungary.  Outside of church, she previously did volunteer work with Compassion International, attending events to assist with child sponsorships, and currently volunteers year-round with the local team for Operation Christmas Child.  She loves to travel and enjoys researching and planning the details of her trips for her and her travel buddy (her mother).

Lindsay grew up in Northern Virginia. Throughout her life Children's Ministry has been at the core, from being ministered herself in kid's church, to volunteering as soon as she was old enough as a youth, and into her adulthood. Lindsay came to Monterey Church in 2019 seeking a new church home and found a loving church family, great friends, a husband, and a job all within her first eighteen months here! Lindsay is passionate about coming alongside families to assist with their children's knowledge and trusting of God's Word rather than the ways of this world. Lindsay and Gabe (our Student Ministries Director) have two children. When they're not ministering to the kids of Monterey Church, you can find them shopping around local farmers markets, spending time with extended family, or keeping up with chickens on their aspiring homestead in Nokesville.
