BECOME A MEMBER OF MONTEREY CHURCH
At Monterey Church, our commitment to the spiritual practices of becoming a faithful Disciple and member of the Body are the same. When we are faithfully and consistently following Jesus in the six areas below, the Holy Spirit transforms us to look more like our Creator.
1) Attendance of the Sunday gathering.
"...not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." -Hebrews 10:25
2) Membership in a Discipleship Group.
"Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." - Acts 2:46
3) Time spent daily in prayer and reading/meditating on Scripture.
"But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." - Luke 5:16
4) Participation on a Serve Team or other service in the community.
"For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many.” -Mark 10:45
5) Generosity through tithes and financial offerings.
"Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. 9 You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it." -Malachi 3:8-10
6) Investing in and inviting those who are disconnected from God.
"We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God." -2 Corinthians 5:20
